Lifeguard

The Student Recreation Center at Vincennes University is seeking Lifeguard applicants.  Positions to be filled are student and part-time hourly positions. Shifts will be a variety of morning, afternoon, evening and weekends. All applicants must have a valid Lifeguarding Certification.

This position will report directly to the Aquatic Center Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

 

• Provide a safe environment for all participants by preventing and responding to emergencies

 

•  Enforce all Aquatic Center rules, policies and regulations

 

•  Inspect the Aquatic Center and report unsafe conditions/equipment to the Aquatic Center Manager

 

•  Actively guard and scan the pool area at all times

 

•  Refrain from socializing while guarding

 

•  Securing the pool area while there is no lifeguard on duty

 

•  Attend and participate in all meetings/in-service training

 

•  Complete guard reports

 

•  Answer any patrons or comments

 

Required and Preferred Qualifications

 

• Must be 18 years or older to apply

 

•  Lifeguard Certification – required

 

•  CPR and AED for Professional Rescuer certification – required

 

• First Aid and BBP (Bloodborne Pathogens) Certification – required
