Blazers Achieve Student Support Services is seeking applicants for an Educational Coach. The Educational Coach will coach and mentor underrepresented and diverse populations (e.g., low-income, first generation, students with disabilities, etc.) to be academically and non-cognitively successful to increase retention and graduation of at-risk students.

The Educational Coach will perform duties related to the operations of Blazers Achieve Student Support Services.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Coaches, mentors, and records student services in a database.

 

  • Recruits and conducts intake procedure along with SSS mailing for potential students including START VU and PreVUs (some are on Saturdays).

 

  • Facilitates record-keeping, database management, purchasing and inventory and utilizes standard office equipment. Maintains computer lab and Smart Classroom.

 

  • Facilitates transitioning strategies from high school to postsecondary setting.

 

  • Coordinates services with community agencies and other campus departments.

 

  • Assists students with career exploration and soft skills development.

 

  • Coordinates services with community agencies and other campus departments. Works as a collaborative team member.

 

  • Participates and travels for professional development including TRIO Priority training.

 

  • Works some evenings for workshops, field trips, Business Dinner, etc.

 

Required and Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, business, technology, or related field required. Master’s  Preferred.

 

  • Work experience (i.e., minimum one year) providing educational/coaching/mentoring services to underrepresented populations (e.g., diverse cultural, ethnic, and economic background, students  with disabilities) required.

 

  • Executive function/soft skills (e.g., planning, organizing, time management, task initiation, etc.).

 

  • Excellent written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills.

 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

 

  • Ability to learn or knowledge of Banner, Kronos, or other databases and software.

 

  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
