International Student Coordinator

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the international student coordinator position. This is a full-time professional staff position located at the VU main campus. The coordinator would be responsible for the onboarding and retention of international students.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

• Develop and implement the online and in-person international student orientation program including but not limited to: sessions on resources, immigration regulations, travel, introduction to U.S. system of education, class registration, paying student bills, health insurance, safety, and employment; coordinate all other functions of international student orientation including but not limited to: airport pick-ups, meals, housing, activities, materials, student assistants, trips, and external vendors.

 

• Counsel and assist enrolled international students on matters related to university life and the U.S. study experience, academics, including finances, transportation, employment, health insurance, adjustment to the campus, and maintenance of student status

 

•  Coordinate and develop handouts, workshops, email correspondence, web information, and other materials to effectively communicate information to students

 

• Organize at least two on-and off-campus cultural and social activities and events to enrich the international student experience.

 

• Assist admissions in student compliance to Visa expectations

 

Required and Preferred Qualifications

 

• Must be a U.S citizen or a U.S.  permanent resident

 

• Must have excellent written skills  and verbal skills

 

• Fluency in Mandarin is a plus

 

•  Ability to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment to all students

 

• Proficient in Windows 7 environment, Internet applications, Microsoft Office Suite

 

• Bachelor’s degree is required

 

• International and Higher Education experience a plus

 

• Must be able to work some evenings and weekends
