Assistant Dean of Instruction – Early College

Vincennes University is seeking an innovative, experienced, and student-focused leader to serve as the Assistant Dean of Instruction for Lawrenceburg Early College High School. This administrative role will focus on leading Dual Credit efforts and representing Vincennes University as a liaison for faculty, staff, students and parents within partnering school corporations and career centers. The ideal candidate will possess a collaborative and energetic approach, with responsibility for academic oversight. 

The Assistant Dean reports directly to the Dean of Academic Early College and works closely with the Dean of CTE Early College and K12 partnership administration. This is a full-time, twelve-month professional staff position with full benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities

Partnership Responsibilities;

  • Collaborate with K-12 school administration to plan, execute, and monitor the early college model.

 

  • Partner with school administration to meet early college student and staffing needs.

 

  • Advise and support students toward program completion in partnership with school administration.

 

  • Assist school administration with program promotion and marketing.

Planning Responsibilities:

  • Work with school administration to set annual goals and objectives for the early college program.

 

  • Monitor and assess the progress of the early college program.

 

  • Develop course offerings that lead to program completion and conduct annual reviews of the program with school administration.

Staffing Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with school administration to credential and develop teaching staff for dual-credit courses.

 

  • Train teaching staff on university systems and procedures.

 

  • Ensure teaching staff meet accreditation standards and comply with University guidelines for dual-credit courses.

 

  • Hire, onboard, and supervise adjunct instructors, support staff, and professional staff.

Student Advising Responsibilities:

  • Advise students on their academic progress and early college goals in partnership with K-12 administration.

 

  • Monitor student academic performance and intervene when necessary.

 

  • Conduct degree audits and senior exit planning meetings.

 

  • Administer placement exams as required.

 

  • Perform audits of student academic progress, ensuring proper scheduling and course completion.

 

  • Facilitate senior graduation petitions and coordinate credit transfers from external agencies.

 

 

Required and Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and foster open communication with K-12 administrators, faculty, staff, students, and families.

 

  • Strong decision-making abilities, independent work ethic, and a proactive approach to working with students and staff.

 

  • In-depth understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy.

 

  • Proven experience in K12, CTE and higher education collaboration and administration.

 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning, decision-making, and leadership skills.

 

  • Significant experience in educational administration and management.

 

  • Other related experience in education is a plus.

 

  • A Master’s Degree in a related field is required; a Doctorate Degree is preferred.

 

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Support school administration in outreach and promotional efforts.

 

  • Represent the University at local and statewide conferences, meetings, and college fairs.

 

  • Participate in relevant committees and advisory councils as requested by K-12 and university administration.

 

  • Support and participate in summer programming at the University.

 

  • Ensure effective communication between school administration and the University.

 

  • Maintain early college student records and data.

 

  • Complete other duties as assigned.
