The Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications from individuals to be appointed as a Research Associate. The position will be based at NYU Abu Dhabi and supervised by Kenneth Birnbaum.
Overview of the department and position Accountabilities.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for growing plants and working with plant cell culture to conduct single-cell RNA-seq studies. The applicant will develop and carry out drought studies in drought tolerant and susceptible plants. In addition, the applicant will generate protoplasts for long-term culture in microfluidic devices. The applicant will also work with fluidics engineers to develop plant cell microfluidic devices. The applicant will also grow mangrove plants in an outdoor nursery and troubleshoot methods to collect mangrove cells for RNA-seq. The applicant will also communicate with various outside groups to organize seminars and meetings.
