The Vincennes University Automotive Program at the Vincennes campus is seeking applicants for an Adjunct Automotive Instructor. This is a part-time adjunct, non-tenure track position, reporting to the Director of the Automotive Program and the Dean of the College of Technology.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Provide academic instruction in the University’s Automotive Technology Program.

 

  • Uphold required rules, regulations, and standards set forth by Vincennes University.

 

  • Develop syllabi for courses and ensure course content meets accreditation requirements.

 

  • Use a variety of proven methods of engagement and assessment that facilitate student mastery of course content.

 

  • Provide students with constructive and corrective feedback.

 

  • Evaluate student learning by creating and applying course competencies and accurately evaluating student progress.

 

  • Provide scheduled office hours for student consultation.

 

  • Utilize Blackboard for assignments, announcements, grades, and feedback.

 

  • Participate in program assessment.

 

 

Required and Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Hold ASE Certifications in areas of instruction.

 

  • Hold a Valid Driver’s License and have a clean driving record.

 

  • 5+ years’ experience in an Automotive Repair Shop.

 

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of light duty automotive electrical and mechanical systems.

 

  • Ability to foster a positive learning environment for students.

 

  • Commitment and desire to go above and beyond to serve our diverse community.

 

  • Basic computer skills.

 

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Automotive Technology or related field preferred.

 

  • Experience teaching at a high school or college level preferred.

 

  • Experience using Blackboard Learning Management System preferred.

 

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended length of time.

 

  • Ability to operate required tools and equipment.

 

  • Must be able to lift or move up to 75 pounds.
