Position Title: Leadership Annual Giving Officer

Department:  NMU Foundation

Term of Assignment: Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:

FLSA Status:   Exempt = not eligible for overtime

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm with occasional evening and weekend work required.

Salary: Targeted Salary Range: $55,680-$59,800

Travel: 10-25%

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Responsible for planning, managing, and executing strategies with donors who have the capacity and inclination to make leadership annual giving level philanthropic commitments ($5,000 – $50,000+) to Northern Michigan University (NMU); annual dollars raised target will be $500,000. A focus will be on building meaningful relationships that strengthen annual support and grow the future major gift pipeline for NMU. At least fifty percent of the portfolio focus will be to secure support for WNMU Public Media.

Required Minimum Work Experience:
Two years of experience in development, nonprofit work, or a related field working directly with external stakeholders such as sales or university admissions/recruitment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:
Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding identified goals, such as fundraising or sales.
Proven experience in working directly with external stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team, leveraging relationships with major gift prospects, NMU alumni, campus partners, and leadership to drive fundraising success.
Excellent time management and organizational skills with a results-driven mindset.
Ability to work with resilience, navigate complex systems, and remain adaptable.
Capable of effectively conveying the University’s mission and fundraising priorities to diverse audiences.
Ability to travel, including overnight stays and flexible hours to accommodate donor schedules.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications:
Previous work experience in higher education.
Previous experience working with a donor management, or similar CRM, system.
